Pat Robertson: God Says Tsunami Possible For U.S. This Year

From the Associated Press:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Rev. Pat Robertson says God has told him that storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year.

The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network has told viewers of "The 700 Club" that the revelations came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January.

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8.

He added specifics in Wednesday's show.

"There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest," he said.

Robertson has come under intense criticism in recent months for suggesting that U.S. agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.

Let's wait and see if Robertson "heard the Lord right"...

If you believe God speaks to us today, through any other medium than what is "written" in the pages of the Bible, then you have no way of saying that Mr. Robertson is not hearing from God. What if the Political leaders of coastline States starting halting construction immediately based on Pat's revelation from God? You as a promoter of God speaking through one individual for us or in general as a nation would have no way of telling the individuals or the leaders they were overreacting. It did come from God----didn't it?
This is exactly what happened when Jim Jones said--God told him--to start a city in Guinea. Mr. Jones was a successful preacher and had done a lot of out reach community work through his local church. There was no way to prove Mr. Jones wasn't hearing from God because the Bible doesn't say you can't start a city somewhere. Those people found out too late that Mr. Jones wasn't following "God's voice". There is nothing in the Bible that says you can't, although it may be a little creepy, go back to Guinea and rebuild the Peoples Temple and use it as a church or school for that area now.
Mr. Robertson's methodology (by implication doctrine) that God will speak to individuals today specifically about events like storms, buying houses, getting jobs or getting married, has been in the church for sometime. This method of teaching leads us to follow charismatic leaders and our own thoughts and feelings instead of the teachings of God's Word.
I'm just glad Mr. Robertson isn't telling us God told him to raise a million dollars or he will die, or for all us to move to VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. and start a community of 700 club believers----as of yet.

I myself had a dream around one year ago, that U.S.A. was going to be in a small conflict with Mexico.I never posted it.Now we see all this protesting. Its going to get worse. It will happen in the area southern calif from the coast and maybe A.Z.I also had a dream a few months ago that something is going to happen with the ocean off the cost of N.H.I had dreams of 911 two and a half years before it happened.I do not expect you to believe me.Unless it happened to me ,I also would find it hard to believe. What will you say, if Pat's revalation comes true?God does talk to people in dreams, and latly more and more people are having such dreams.Even none believers. But most will just pass it on as luck.

eh.. there is a way to tell if Robertson heard from God or not. 1st of all, the bible states a lot of moral rules.. a set of which is called the 10 comandments. One of these is 'thou shall not kill', which proves that Robertson was not hearing from God. {Robertson has come under intense criticism in recent months for suggesting that U.S. agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.} God would not cause anyone harm,it's against his caring nature. God only allows things to happen. Satan is the one who causes them.

Hey,

Wait a minute. Why does an all-loving, all-knowing, and supremely powerful God allow Satan to cause tragic events or harm. Furthermore, if it is Satan who causes harm or evil, we can't blame anyone for the crimes that are commited in our society--in other words, no one is responsible for the evil that exists in our world.

Er.. God set his house upon Kind David's blood line. If I remember right, after king David impregnated a married mans wife.Instead of just confessing up to the sin of adultry,He tried to hide it. First by trying to get the man to sleep with his wife. Then when that failed. He comanded that Uriah be placed on the front lines.David set Uriah up to be killed, then he married his wife. Not only was David a King, but was one of the few person to have the baptisum of the Holy Spirit put upon him. This made it an even greater sin.Yet God still estasblished his house upon King David, even having such great sins.A man's sin is no sign of weather they know God.But we do need atonement for our sins. That was done over two thousand years ago.Whoever say's God law condems, is a liar. The sun and the rain fall upon the good and the bad alike.Gods law condems oneself only.We are not our brothers judge, but only our own.Tell me, how many world wide brodcast have you dedicated your life to in reaching out to others?Just imagine yourself, standing at the throne of God,next to Pat declaring such things. You look pretty silly.

I always find it amusing when someone tries to educate someone else on religion, world affairs, etc. while mispelling words and coming off sounding as pompous as the Pope. If you will read your bible again you will find plenty of pages filled with murder, adultery and disasters. If someone (and there were many) had forecast it then they would be considered either a prophet or a false prophet. Women in Salem were burned at the stake for sharing their insight. Is Robertson a witch? I don't think so. Did Chavez have anything to do with his LearJet crashing last week? Probably. I believe God wiped out a vast majority of people in biblical times that were hopelessly lost (remember Sodom?) The world is becoming more rude, less moral and a lot harder to love. I thought 911 might have been a wake-up call and it was for about a month. The people that live there and other major cities are proud of their rude behavior and they will tell you that. Their excuse always begins,"Hey I'm a New Yorker..etc". The point is, we need people like Pat and others who can remind us of our salvation. We are saved by grace but we still have to endure a cruel and sometimes ruthless world. Someone better remind us that the next catastrophe could be a lot bigger and have a much worse impact than the last. That is why it's important to wipe out global terrorism, and do everything in our power to achieve a more loving, contributing society even if it means we have to take the bad out like we did yesterday.

Natural disasters are coming anyway. When you close your eyes and drift off tonight, thank God you have a roof over your head and power. I've been in the jungle, the desert and places where no man should ever tread, fighting for freedom and a better world. I know what it means to be without food, water, and losing your buddies. One thing I learned a long time ago, you never miss the water until the well runs dry.

Mr robertson is full of it.He's nothing but a sheep in wolf clothing yes the bible speaks of disaters but it also speaks of liars false teachers. A save man dont tell people to kill someone man of god yeah right try lair. If he believes in Jesus he would love his enemys.Paul tell us to have this mind in you which was also in christ Jesus. Did Jesus kill the soliders who nail him to the cross no but instead he said father forgive them. Our job is not to shout out kill but to shout out Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That way no one want to go to church. We have become finger pointers and not forivers. But in do time christ died for the unbelivers

Sadly Pat Robertson has gone the way of Balaam, There is ample evidence of this in when you review his ministry and what has happened in it. I have watched Pat go from orthodoxy to the absurd what sells the best what people want to hear. But I say this with sadness because I admired Pat once and his CBN ministry which a has gone from Evangelistic to entertainment

A wolf. That's all he is.
This is the same man, who in Dec 1986, on the David Frost show, which I saw, he said that God told him to run for President in 1988 and if he ran he would win.
Well, he got 20% of the GOP delegates but George I became Prez not him.
On that same interview, he also talked about Jim and Tammy Fay like dogs: very insulting and disparaging towards them and not forgiving and kind.

We are living in awsome biblical times as we speak! Never before has technology been this far advanced but think of how you cant tell men from woman b/c of estragin pills and sex change opperations. America and this modern day sodam & gomoura taking place right before our eyes. IT is not coincidental what we see that has been fortold in revalation . By the blood of CHRIST and only by HIM will the few that believe will see the rapture to come?

I believe him, of course. It's because I'm a Christian and that I'm always wondering why people don't believe him at all? I mean come one people! How can scietists know about Global Warming and that God didn't do this. YES HE DID!!!! Even though I'm a freshman at a high school I know that God has something to say there is no reason why no one believes him. You never know when it will happen now or tomorrow because that's one thing you should know about.

There was a tsunami in 2006. It struck the coastal town of Crescent City in Northern California on Nov. 15, 2006. It did $700,000 worth the damage. It even struck after the warnings had been lifted. Check out the article in the SF Chronicle.
